At some point on one of those days when I was
waiting for the day to come, I decided I would go
tiptoeing off. I did not say goodbye to the others;
why should I?
If they had asked me where I was going,
I would have said
nowhere.
Nowhere?

North, North-East, North-West, East, South,
South-East, South-West and the West came together
in one place, from where I could control the
innumerable colours, which were looming on
the horizon.

Lena Marie Emrich

HOME presents Lena Marie Emrich’s first solo project in London Sky Lounge. Emrich’s interests in the marginal aspects of life imbue her work with feelings of freedom and excitement that tie into a journey of flight. Gazing through her sculptures and photographs we see our own journey reflected in these unique windows.

Emrich imbues her work with industrial and mechanical motifs that are so pervasive in contemporary society. Her series of 12 airplane windows modeled on various airplane models - in this case Cessna Citation Latitude - explores the threshold between the viewer and the outside world. Fetishised vessels of adventure, Emrich’s windows reflect both time and the sky, which seem to be at a standstill yet are in fact a living cosmology.

Emrich’s work is evanescent as the poems and signs that one reads and remembers, performances that are immortalised by photography.
Simply and effectively, Emrich captures our desires of connectivity and touch.

Lena Marie Emrich exhibition Sky Lounge kicks off HOME, a programme of shows in domestic spaces, inspired by space, flight and exploration. At a time where the fantasies of flight and social gatherings are merely accessible, HOME reflects on a heightened state of being that merges global pursuits with hyper-curiosity and the home as a space for meaningful relationships. HOME offers a space to take your time and meet artists, to explore the ideas and magnetic individuals leading some of contemporary art’s most exciting practices.
