2005

Acrylic on canvas, 120 x 120 cm

Gabriel Orozco (b. 1962, Jalapa) currently splits his time working and living in both Tokyo and Mexico City. Orozco studied at the Escuela Nacional des Artes Plasticas at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico and the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.

Orozco translates the natural world into a geometric field, abstracting the familiar and using mathematics, mechanics and engineering to inspire creativity. Samurai Tree (Invariant 6) inspires movement and sequence, planting seeds of curiosity within the viewer.

"I think that art makes a person feel individual and conscious and there is awareness in the moment of the
contact with art."
